Katherine Norris Fine Art Gallery in Newport Beach will be will be hosting a fundraiser called the "Palliative Art of Hospice" in which appetizers and refreshments will be served. Art and Jewelry will be for sale and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Spencer Hospice Foundation! The Gallery has dedicated two walls to display artwork created by hospice patients, their families or hospice staff/volunteers and their family. There will be no admission charge for guests to attend.

Making the Holiday Brighter
The holidays can be especially difficult for those coping with a life limiting illness, but the Spencer Hospice Foundation is working to make them brighter. We honor patients during Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentines Day, Mothers Day and Fathers Day by granting things such as a Thanksgiving Dinner, a tabletop Christmas tree, or a special holiday wish. However, because we receive most of our requests during Thanksgiving and Christmas, we work with our local businesses, schools, service clubs, community organizations and individuals to make holiday wishes come true for hundreds of patients each year. For many patients, the gifts they receive from generous donors are the only holiday presents they will receive.
Here’s how the program works. The hospice team works with the patient and their family to fill out a simple application, which is translated into a wish card ornament. The SHF then supplies you or your company with as many wish card ornaments as you think you can fulfill. You then choose the ornament with a wish you would like to purchase, and the Spencer Hospice Foundation will collect the Thanksgiving gifts on or near November 18th and holiday gifts on December 11th. Wishes may include a box of chocolates, clothes, music CDs, gift cards, food and other small things that make a BIG difference in enhancing the quality of life.
